On Line and on Paper: Visual Representations, Visual Culture, and Computer Graphics in Design Engineering by Kathryn Henderson,
The role of representation in the production of techno-scientific knowledge has become a subject of great interest in recent years. In this book, sociologist base knowledge ontology representation and art critic Kathryn Henderson offers a new perspective on this topic by exploring the impact of computer graphic systems on the visual culture of engineering design. Henderson shows how designers use drawings both to organize work base knowledge ontology representation and knowledge base knowledge ontology representation and to recruit base knowledge ontology representation and organize resources, political support, base knowledge ontology representation and power. Henderson's analysis of the collective nature of knowledge in technical design work is based on her participant observation of practices in two industrial settings. In one she follows the evolution of a turbine engine package from design to production, base knowledge ontology representation and in the other she examines the development of an innovative surgical tool. In both cases she describes the messy realities of design practice, including the mixed use of the worlds of paper base knowledge ontology representation and computer graphics. One of the goals of the book is to lay a practice-informed groundwork for the creation of more usable computer tools. Henderson also explores the relationship between the historical development of engineering as a profession base knowledge ontology representation and the standardization of engineering knowledge, base knowledge ontology representation and then addresses the question: Just what is high technology, base knowledge ontology representation and how does its affect the extent to which people will allow their working habits to be disrupted base knowledge ontology representation and restructured? Finally, to help explain why visual representations are so powerful, Henderson develops the concept of "metaindexicality" -- the ability of a visual representation, used interactively, to combine many diverse levels of knowledge base knowledge ontology representation and thus to serve as a meeting ground (and sometimes battleground) for many typesof workers.

Tools for Organizing Business Knowledge by Thomas W. Malone,
The vision of the MIT Process Handbook Project is the creation of a systematic base knowledge ontology representation and powerful method of organizing base knowledge ontology representation and sharing business knowledge. "Organizing Business Knowledge: The MIT Process Handbook presents the key findings of a multidisciplinary research group at MIT's Sloan School of Management that has worked for over a decade to lay the foundation for just such a comprehensive system. It does so by focusing on the process itself. The book proposes a set of fundamental concepts to guide analysis base knowledge ontology representation and a classification framework for organizing knowledge, base knowledge ontology representation and describes the publicly available online knowledge base developed by the project, which includes a set of representative templates base knowledge ontology representation and specific case examples as well as a set of software tools for organizing base knowledge ontology representation and sharing knowledge."Organizing Business Knowledge: The MIT Process Handbook includes twenty-one papers, some previously published base knowledge ontology representation and some appearing for the first time, that have come out of this decade-long project. Together, they form a comprehensive base knowledge ontology representation and coherent vision of the future of knowledge organization. The Handbook is organized into five parts: an introduction base knowledge ontology representation and overview; the presentation of a theory of process representation; "Contents of the Process Repository"; "Process Repository Uses," which gives examples from both research base knowledge ontology representation and practice; base knowledge ontology representation and a conclusion, which maps the progress so far base knowledge ontology representation and the challenges ahead.
